Se cunoaște schimbarea de la 10.0 Megapixeli la 12.1 Megapixeli. De asemenea Canon PowerShot SX20 IS
vine echipat cu mușchi mai mari și permite inregistrari video HD 720p și cu ieșire HDMI pentru a putea vizualiza filmele si fotografiile la calitate HDTV. De asemenea microfonul stereo face experiențta înregistrării mult mai placută.
Este o camera relativ mică… dar puternică. În caz de iluminare proasta, datorită patinei se poate monta unul dintre blițurile de la Canon.
